Southern New Zealand landscapes, photography, art and essays, based at Wanaka, on the shores of Lake Wanaka

Southern Lights web site is based in Wanaka, on the shores of Lake Wanaka in the heart of Central Otago, and part of the Southern Lakes, a beautiful area comprised of a number of well known large lakes with their sources in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. An area known for it's tourism attractions, clear air and land forms, which are many and varied.

The site southernlakes.co.nz is a commitment by owner Donald Lousley, a photographer, computer technician, and writer with iCommunicate and MacAssist Wanaka to share his love of New Zealand landscapes and the values they instill in people. A mountaineer by inclination Donald has spent a life time involved in horse trekking, helicopters, mountain guiding and instruction, fishing, tramping, skiing, ski touring, search and rescue, four wheel driving, mountain biking and rafting. And has also dabbled in hunting, yoga, canoeing and expedition sailing. His greatest love of them all however is parenting and growing up with young people in this unique environment.
